ABOUT ABOUT

Dear Friends & Followers,

It is with deep disappointment that we must inform you of our decision to cancel this year’s Daughters of Darkness Festival as a drastic measure to ensure the health of everyone involved. As stated in our previous posts, we did not take this decision lightly, and weighed many options. We will refund tickets and vending table fees and ask for your patience as we undergo this lengthy process over the next several days. Current vendors will also be offered a table at next year’s Daughters of Darkness, which will take place on April 9th, 10th, and 11th at The Hawthorne Hotel in Salem, MA. Wearable Art Show designers will also carry over to next year if they choose to participate.

We struggled in making this decision knowing that many of the artists who depend on events like Daughters of Darkness are experiencing great difficulty in losing these opportunities. We encourage you to support the vendors through their social media and online shops. If you can’t afford to shop, interacting with social media can help boost their visibility. So like, share, and comment as much as you can! We are saddened at having to make such a tough call, but when it came down to it, we knew the welfare of everyone was far too important to risk.

We understand that the loss of our group donation to HAWC Northshore will negatively impact their organization and our community. We implore you to make your own donations to HAWC if you are able. Die With Your Boots On will be donating 100% of the profit from DOD logo stickers & buttons. Those will be available online via diewithyourbootson.shop  starting this weekend.

We do ask that everyone please understand that in canceling this years event, our organizers are also taking a major financial hit through lost deposits, loss of revenue, previously paid for preparations and marketing, etc. We are not the only organization experiencing this sort of financial loss, as we watch our peers in the arts go through similar situations in canceling events. It is important to be there for those in your community at this time, as the economic strain will affect everyone. Support your local small businesses, be there for your friends, check on elderly neighbors, make sure those around you have what they need to get through what is sure to be a very difficult time for everyone. Make good decisions about being out in public.

Thank you for your willingness to be involved as attendees, panelists, vendors, volunteers, designers, and organizers. We appreciate your understanding and support throughout this process, we will do our best to make all refunds in a timely manner.

ORIGINAL TEXT: If you've ever felt like the weird kid, have an obsession with cemeteries and a macabre interest in mourning rituals... If you've ever wanted to start a business because your collection of bones and taxidermy is getting out of control, or if you wear all black and the people you work with love to point out the lack of color in your wardrobe... If you carve pumpkins in July and celebrate Summerween, or if you plan your travel around where you can find catacombs, oddities shops, weird murder stories, and haunted history...
